The Eurodoc Annual Conference 2026, titled “Early Career Researchers as Ambassadors for Science and Society,” will take place on 24 and 25 June 2026 in Budapest, Hungary, bringing together doctoral candidates, postdoctoral researchers, policymakers and representatives of research organisations from across Europe.
Organised by Eurodoc in collaboration with the Association of Hungarian PhD and DLA Candidates (DOSZ) and hosted by Semmelweis University, the conference will examine how early-career researchers can strengthen the relationship between science and society while contributing to the development of more inclusive and sustainable research systems.
Over two days, participants will discuss a range of topics relevant to research careers and the broader research ecosystem. The programme includes sessions on academic governance and representation, community-building among researchers, public engagement with science, and the challenges and opportunities facing the next generation of researchers in Europe.
The conference aims to foster dialogue between researchers and stakeholders from different sectors, creating opportunities to exchange experiences, share good practices and identify ways to enhance the impact of research on society. Through keynote speeches, panel discussions and interactive workshops, attendees will explore how researchers can take on a more active role in addressing societal challenges and strengthening trust in science.
Held in a hybrid format, the event will be accessible both in person and online, allowing participants from across Europe and beyond to join the discussions.
The themes of the conference are also relevant to initiatives such as the SECURE2 project, which seeks to support sustainable research careers and improve conditions for researchers across Europe.
More information about the programme, registration and participation is available on the Eurodoc website.
